Kits

Our resident fox had another litter of kits and has moved them beneath the lamb hut. She’s pretty smart because under there they are safe from our dogs and the coyotes.

Kits exploring.

Kits exploring.

There are five kits this year. They’ve grown big enough to step out and explore their surroundings.

Some of them are more daring than others, but none of them is very shy.

We are enjoying watching them play and grow.

Once again I find myself with a couple rescue sparrows. Each year I find these helpless creatures on the floor of the barn after they have fallen from their nests. Since sparrows are notoriously poor nest builders, this isn’t uncommon. Most I raise to release, except for our resident Cheeboop and Rumplepuff .

The smallest I found a few days ago and the larger one I just found today. They are both doing well and should be ready to release a couple weeks from now.

Rumplepuff was particularly curious, but now doesn’t pay them much attention.
